TOKYO (Kyodo) — Tokyo stocks ended nearly flat Tuesday while the U.S. dollar briefly rose to the lower 155 yen range as investors await results from the Bank of Japan’s two-day policy meeting through the next day amid weakening prospects of the central bank raising interest rates.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average reversed earlier declines before ending up 57.32 points, or 0.15 percent, from Monday at 38,525.95. The broader Topix index finished 5.22 points, or 0.19 percent, lower at 2,754.45.
